The Bagger Vance Diaries

It just occurred to me that I almost wasted a precious opportunity

last night when I cleaned out my overcoat pocket and threw away the

scrap sheet from our wonderful time together yesterday afternoon. Why

not take a few minutes to capture and frame some of the moments

recorded on the sheet for the benefit of our community, including

myself, as I suggested earlier? So here they are and I look forward to

enjoying yours as well.

During the Bagger Vance… Continue

Our Common Humanity and Spirituality

I want to thank Gerry and everyone who were part of the symphonic

experience yesterday - it was a mighty performance!

Theory U is a social technology or instrument intended to help us to

discover and experience our common humanity and spirituality in a

realistic and productive manner. It's a process of cultivating and

channeling our individual fountains or energy streams into a

bottomless and eternal river that flows through and breaths life into

our… Continue

The Blindness of Clinton Politics

The scene of Hilary and Barack swinging at each other at their last

public debate in front of television reminded us how serious, absurd

and cruel politics are and always have been. No doubt each was trying

to reach the masses whose consciousness remains largely at field 1 and

2, especially when it comes to crucial issues such as health care, war

in Iraq and the economy (boy, have we had some fun with the Market in

the past a few days?). So what's the difference… Continue

Love Comes Softly

There is something about the lives of the early settlers and the

western frontier that always spark a tender feeling in my imagination

and heart. So did this movie about two widowers forced into a marriage

of convenience due to natural and tragic circumstances and

subsequently discovering and falling into true love through the trials

and tributes of the harsh life conditions at the frontier. Why is it

that we, living in the incomparably greater material comfort… Continue

Mindless Actions and Action-Less Minds

Otto wrote in the Theory U, "when we prototype living examples by

integrating different types of intelligence, we always navigate the

process between two major dangers and pitfalls: mindless action and

action-less mind."

The U is simply a metaphor and navigational aid to carry out such

integration in real time and space. We tasted some of it yesterday

during the "Journey Dance" (please refer to the uploaded slides). I am

enormously grateful to all of you… Continue

The Amazing Grace of Democracy

I still remember the extremely emotional reactions from some of my

friends in 2004 when George W Bush won his 2nd term. They were so

disillusioned that they were seriously talking about emigrating to

Canada! I advised them try Mars :)

It is a quite amazing view if we look at the recent political history

of our country through the lense of the theory U. After more than a

decade of dominance by field 1 politics that gave George W Bush two

terms in the… Continue

The Best Life Insurance Policy in Town!

I read another chapter of the Theory U today in which Otto refers to a

research on the systemic root causes of high mortality risk done by

Nortin Hadler, MD and professor of medcine at the University of North

Carolina. The two key factors associated with high mortality risk are

1. Are you comfortable in your socioeconomic status?

2. Are you satisfied in your employment?

Sadly, most of us at work places today, executives as well as worker

bees, are… Continue
